Tucked into a neighborhood in Denton, is a curiosity that is sure to delight your entire family called: The Chairy Orchard! Its creators, (“The Chairy Fairies”) Anne Pearson and Judy Smith have a single mission… to make visitors smile. Filled with a variety of oddities, The Chairy Orchard encompasses the spirit of Denton living. Located in a floodway between two homes, what was once an empty lot, has become a quirky and creative spot for all to enjoy.
Living in North Texas, there are treasures around every corner, and the orchard is one of those hidden gems to add to your list of places to experience. Open from dawn until dusk every day, be sure and bring your camera for some unique and engaging photos.
Along with your camera, don’t forget to bring your imagination! It’s a wonderful spot to pull up a chair (pun intended) and dream a little. On the day our team visited, the orchard was quiet, but it was easy to imagine younger children playing pretend or enjoying the teeter totter. Â
The Chairy Fairies love to see people enjoying their creation and have witnessed Easter egg hunts, engagements, weddings, pot luck dinners, birthday parties, and endless picture taking for proms, graduations and baby photos.
Visitors are also encouraged to interact with the orchard, and are welcome to move the chairs in any way they’d like. In fact, you can also become a part of the enchantment by adding your own chair to the creation. Throughout the orchard, you’ll find chairs of all sizes and many with names, painted scenes, poetry and so much more!
