Light Farms in Celina a “new kind of community”
Light Farms is a 1,070 acre master planned community recently opened in Celina. Part of what makes Light Farms unique is its commitment to healthy living. An onsite CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program is featured, where residents can sign up to receive shares of fresh, locally-grown organic produce delivered weekly. The community also boasts an onsite Central Barnyard (a wide open outdoor space) for events, onsite beekeeping which produces organic honey, and over 200 community events per year.
With schools in the acclaimed Prosper ISD, Light Farms boasts “Best in Class” amenities that include vast greenbelts, 13+ miles of hiking and biking trails, five pools, fitness center, tennis courts, and much more.
Eight builders currently build in Light Farms, with Newport Homebuilders coming on board soon. 2,700 homes are planned, housing approximately 8,700 residents.
The city of Celina is prepping infrastructure for Dallas’ sprawl which is expected to bring more than 300,000 people to the community by 2050, said Mayor Jim Lewis. “We expect Celina to be the second-largest city in Collin County,” Lewis said. “We have planned well to accommodate that growth. We are trying to build a good town and a place where people want to live.”
