National Pet Month is a GREAT Time to Add a Furry Friend to Your Home!

Pets - 1.jpgCelebrating its 30th year, National Pet Month takes place in April in the UK, and in May in the US. We love our pets, and wish we could celebrate National Pet Year!! (Anyway…!) To observe this special month and celebrate our pets, The Seay Realty Group will fill you in each week on special pet events in our area, businesses that cater to your pets, Animal Rescue organizations and other notable news you can use.

Let’s kick off our National Pet Month series by talking about pet adoptions! We Texans LOVE our pets, and want to make sure all pets find their forever home. Take a look at all these Pet Adoption opportunities going on in our area this month!

Special Pet Adoption Events

Pets - 12April 6, 7, 20, 21 10am to 4pm – Animal Rescue Foundation of Texas sponsors the Flower Mound Petsmart Adoption Event, 6060 Long Prairie Road, Flower Mound 75028 – They will have puppies, kittens, cats and dogs looking for their fur-ever home!

April 6, 9am – 1pm. Parker Square in Flower Mound. Spring Festival hosted by Apollo Support & Rescue for Abandoned Dogs. Pet adoption, kids activities, vendors, food, games and more!

April 13 10am – 4pm – Animal Rescue Foundation of Texas sponsors the Earthwise Pet Supply/Flower Mound Adoption event, 2311 Cross Timbers Road, Suite 307, Flower Mound TX 75028

Don’t Forget About These Organizations!

pets - 6.JPGOffering Pet Adoptions, education, neutering, spaying, vaccinations and other services, these non-profits exist to protect and help our furry friends.

Flower Mound Animal Services is headquartered in Flower Mound’s animal Adoption Center, 3950 Justin Road, Flower Mound TX. FMAS provides adoption opportunities, pet registrations and education materials. Animals available for adoption (dogs and cats) from the shelter are posted online at https://www.flower-mound.com/163/Adoptable-Animals.

The Gene Carey Animal Shelter and Adoption Center is an intake center for the city of Lewisville residents, and accepts any animals regardless of health, age or breed. They work with PetFinder.com to place pets into loving homes.

The Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center, 3717 North Elm Street, Denton 76207 is considered state-of-the art and one of the best in Texas. They are open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 5pm. For a list of animals available for adoption (and their pictures!) click here

rescues dogs from local North Texas animal shelters or dogs trying to survive from abuse or neglect and living  a hard life on the street.  Apollo’s goal is to be a stepping stone to care for them and place them in homes that believe in second chances.  Apollo Support & Rescue is located at 1170 Dove Hill Road in Justin, TX.  For a list of available dogs up for adoption click here.

Attention.pngPssst, we heard through the grapevine that Denton Animal Shelter currently has 80+ cats/kittens available for adoption. PLEASE check with them if you’re looking to add a new kitty to your household! 

Finally, here are some of our more unique animal rescue organizations.

They do a phenomenal job helping animals and offer adoptions as well.

Pets - 10The Charming Cat Café, Music City Mall, Lewisville TX – This one-of-a-kind cat adoption facility is a public, foster setting where enthusiastic visitors can enjoy a relaxing environment to enjoy the company of cats before adopting. They are open seven days a week.

The Street Dog Project was formed to reduce the homeless pet population in Dallas by focusing primarily on rescuing dogs directly from the streets of Dallas. These special dogs often arrive as strays and are in search of love in their forever home.

Humane Tomorrow was founded in 1997 by a small but committed group of volunteers dedicated to the rescue and placement of unwanted animals in Flower Mound and the surrounding areas. All their animals are fostered, since HT has no shelter. Active lists of animals looking for forever homes are maintained on their website at www.humanetomorrow.org

New Volunteer Orientations and how to become an animal foster are regularly offered by Humane Tomorrow. Check their website for the latest classes.
