Last Minute Gift Ideas for New Homeowners

Christmas arrives in just five days – yikes! If you’re still shopping for the new homeowner on your list, here are a few last minute gift ideas they might appreciate.

Something Hygge. “Hygge” is the Danish word for comfort, warmth, cosiness – it’s more of a feeling then something tangible, and experiencing it is a trendy thing to do these days. Gift your new homeowner with items that will help them create Hygge in their home, like soft throw pillows, comforters, candles, gourmet hot chocolate with cute mugs; if they have a wood-burning fireplace, have a cord of wood delivered. You get the idea!

Something Personalized. A new doormat, a monogrammed pillow, a plaque with their house number or even a personalized address stamp will tell them you’ve been thinking about them. Also, a classic gift – the “new home” ornament personalized with their address will be a welcome addition to the tree – mall kiosks do on-the-spot personalizing.

Organized02Something Organizational. If you haven’t visited the mothership of organization lately, “The Container Store”, you’re overdue for a shopping trip! (Can you tell, it’s one of our favorite stores?) There, you will find everything organizational that your new homeowners might need – baskets, bins, drawer organizers, closet organizers, and so on. In keeping with the organization theme, get them a magazine subscription to “Real Simple” magazine to help them stay orderly all year. (This idea was not meant to be a pitch, but rather a resource for a good gift idea!)

Something Experience-Based. Think local, and give them an experience gift. A gift card to a local restaurant. Local cooking classes. A gift card to the local movie theater. Tickets to a play or concert. A foodie tour in their new hometown.  Local sport team jerseys with tickets to a game. Browse the internet to see what’s going on in their area + pair it with their interests = you’ve got a great gift!

Garden Tools.jpgSomething Gardeny. Spring always comes, and you can help your new homeowners be ready for it with yard tools, a garden tote, hose – ideas abound at your local nursery or home improvement store. Don’t know exactly what they need? A pair of garden gloves with a gift card to the local nursery or home improvement store will be greatly appreciated!

If any of these ideas have got you thinking that you might want to stock up your own new home, give us a call! The Seay Group Realty would love to help you with your real estate needs!
