Fannie Mae’s Housing Sentiment Index Reaches All-Time High!

FannieMae.jpgHousingWire.com announced that “Americans have never felt better about buying a house than they do right now!” This optimistic statement was based on a recent Home Purchase Sentiment Index report from Fannie Mae.

The report showed that sentiment rose by 2.2 points in July, to 93.7. This represents a 7.2-point increase from last year’s level; additionally, this is a new high mark for this survey.

Fannie Mae Senior Vice President and Chief Economist Doug Duncan attributed the high marks to a strong job confidence and favorable mortgage rate expectations.

NOTE: Fannie Mae’s Home Purchase Sentiment Index is constructed from six questions, gauging the current views and forward-looking expectations of consumers navigating the housing market.
